At 1,460 m a.s.l. in the surroundings of La Villa there’s a popular excursion destination: the Lago Sompunt lake. The majestic peaks of Mt. Sasso di Santa Croce, also known as Sas dla Crusc (2,907 m a.s.l.) and of the 3,055 m high Mt. La Varella are reflected in its waters.
A pleasant walk proceeds from the village of La Villa in 2.5 hours (total walking time) through meadows and forests to the small lake (no. 5/A). You can also promenade round the Lech da Sompunt, how it is called in Ladin - on its shore the eponymous restaurant invites to stop.
The way back takes you towards Ciaminades to the Pedraces road and - following the course of the river - further on to La Villa (total distance of 7.5 km). In winter, however, the lake becomes a big natural ice rink where you can ice skate till late at night. A rental and ice stock sport complete the offer.
