This mountain lake has got a circular shape and seems to have no inlets or outlets. The Lago Boè lake can be found at 2,275 m a.s.l. in the heart of the Sella Group, surrounded by the rugged rock faces of the Dolomites.
The small pond is accessible from the mountain station of the 2,913 m high Mt. Piz da Lech de Boè in a 10-minute walk. A 2-seater chairlift continues towards the Vallon hiking area, well-known for its trails and fixed-rope routes - the ascent by chairlift allows a glimpse at the lake.
Also the Rif. Franz Kostner mountain hut at 2,500 m a.s.l. is situated in the surroundings of the Lech de Boè, how it is called in Ladin. The - protected - edelweiss grows here during summer.
