The area of Alta Badia is surrounded by the majestic peaks and mighty rock faces of the Dolomites
The Dolomites are a mountain range in the southern Limestone Alps and world-famous for their beauty and uniqueness. Alta Badia, located right in their heart, offers idyllic mountain pastures, rugged rock faces and majestic peaks which are perfect hiking and climbing destinations. The most striking alpenstock in the area is the Sella.
Unique are these “Pale Mountains” also due to a phenomenon called “enrosadira” in Ladin. At dawn or sunset the mountain peaks appear in a magic reddish light. Once the Dolomites were characterised by numerous glaciers - today, however, only Mt. Marmolada has remained. With 3,343 m a.s.l. it represents also the highest peak of the Dolomites.
