Colfosco, a hamlet at 1,645 m a.s.l. belonging to the municipality of Corvara, is the highest located village of Alta Badia
What is particularly striking about Colfosco - or Calfosch how it is called in Ladin language - is first of all its position on the brink of the Puez-Odle Nature Park as well as at the foot of the majestic Sella Group, which time and again attracts a large number of people to the Alta Badia. However, the village can not only be reached from the Val Pusteria valley via the Val Badia, but also from Selva in the Val Gardena via the 2,136 m high Passo Gardena mountain pass.
Furthermore, Colfosco represents an ideal starting point for hikes, alpine and mountain bike tours and is perfect for those who seek relaxation. Eight high routes snake their way throughout the Dolomites - popular destinations are e.g. the peak of the 2,665 m high Mt. Sassongher, the Rif. Puez mountain hut and the Brigata Tridentina fixed-rope route. In winter, Colfosco is an ideal place for performing any kind of winter sports and offers perfect conditions for skiing: the slopes of the Alta Badia ski resort stretch from the Passo Gardena pass down to the village.
Families with children can enjoy the animal park in the heart of the village, where you can observe different animal species. Also information about farmers' lives in this region are provided. Moreover, some years ago the Colfosco Adventure Park has opened its gates, a high-rope course featuring 71 platforms. If you are interested in culture, in the course of the year there are several events which are aimed at living up the ancient customs of the valley. Also the beautiful Gothic church of Colfosco, dating back to 1420 AD, is waiting for culture-interested visitors.
